FAQ
Sculpture Questions
What mountains can I choose from?
You can choose from the following mountains in our initial collection: Grand Teton, Half Dome, Matterhorn, Everest with Nuptse, Fuji, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, Denali, Whitney, and Longs Peak. If you want a sculpture of a mountain or peak that’s not listed above, you can “Commission a Sculpture” and we can create one especially for you. Please email us at hello@sculptedpeaks.com if you have any questions.
Why are there only 10 mountains to choose from?
We hear you! Trust us, we have a long list of mountains we’re eager to turn into sculptures. Crafting a design and hand-carving a new mountain from a block of solid stone takes a lot of time. While we wish we could include more mountains in our launch collection, we would have to wait another year to launch!
Since the start of 2023, we’ve invested significantly in crafting hundreds of sculptures to refine the carving process. We’re just wrapping up our Kickstarter campaign- where we sold our first 200+ sculptures as pre-orders to give the sculpted peaks business a kick-start! We conducted surveys in the months leading up to our campaign launch to select the mountains based on popular requests.
We know many of you have a favorite mountain and want a sculpture of it. That’s why we've met with our design and artisan workshop teams to take on the challenge of creating custom commissions for new sculpture designs. However, this process takes time. We will need your patience as we work with you to create a design mockup and produce custom sculptures in monthly design and production batches over the next year after our Kickstarter campaign ends.
Creating new sculpture designs is a lot of work, but we look forward to making pieces that will be special gifts and help you connect with your most meaningful mountain memories.
I have a special request! Can you carve _______ for me?
We've had a blast seeing all the creative requests come in! While we'd love to say yes to every idea, we need to stay focused to ensure we get your sculptures out the door on time. Here are some requests we've had so far:
Ski Resorts: Full ski resort maps (like Snowbird Ski Resort) are too complex for us right now. However, we can sculpt specific mountains, such as American Fork Twin Peaks from Snowbird's ski map.
Whole Mountain Ranges: Sculpting entire mountain ranges, like Colorado's Front Range panorama, isn't feasible at the moment. Maybe in the future!
Existing Sculptures: We won't recreate sculptures of existing sculptures like Mt. Rushmore, Stone Mountain, or the Lion of Lucerne.
Multiple Mountains in One Sculpture: We're not ready to combine multiple mountains into a single piece.
Other Requests: Sculptures of river systems, the Grand Canyon, the Great Wall of China, cityscapes, your grandpa’s cabin, or your cat aren't on our list right now. We also aren't adding miniature figurines to the mountains.
Topographic Maps: We don’t use CNC machines, and we don't carve topographic maps from above.
But hey, if you have a fantastic idea, don't hesitate to drop us an email at hello@sculptedpeaks.com. We love hearing from you!
What type of stone are the sculptures made from?
We have three colors of Indonesian andesite stone to choose from. We chose andesite stone for its durability and fine-grained texture, making it an excellent choice for detailed sculptures. Additionally, it is accessible for our artisan team as it is locally sourced in Indonesia.
Can I request a stone color or type other than the ones offered?
At this time we only have 3 color tones available. For example, we have had requests to have the sculpture match the tonality of the stone from the location, and while this is an awesome idea, it’s simply not feasible at this time. We have many creative ideas for experimenting with other stones in the future, but we're focusing on building step by step. First, we are refining our carving techniques and growing our team before adding too many additional variables like new types of stone.
Can these sculptures hang on the wall?
Our current collection of sculptures isn't designed to hang on the wall; instead, they should be mounted on a wood base using brass pegs. We don't have wall hanging kits to adapt the sculptures for wall mounting yet. This is something we are considering for the future, once our workshop is fully operational and Kickstarter orders are complete. If you're seriously interested, email us at hello@sculptedpeaks.com

Fulfillment Questions
I pre-ordered through Kickstarter: When will I get my sculpture?
Production in the workshop will begin in October 2024. Our sculptures for “Super Early Bird” backers are set to begin shipping in December 2024. If you are pre-ordering a custom sculpture, there will be additional design and production time required.
Depending on your location, you'll receive yours sometime between December 2024 and August 2025. Please note that this is an estimate, as you're pre-ordering the product and production delays could arise. Our goal is to deliver the first batch of sculptures in time for the holiday season, and we're doing everything we can to meet that deadline. Unlike many crowdfunding projects, we have already invested in prototyping and development, which significantly shortens the timeline to delivery and eliminates many unknowns. However, delays can happen in any production process, and we'll keep backers updated on any changes.
It's worth noting that the sooner you order your sculpture, the sooner it will be shipped. Each reward tier has a different expected delivery window based on our production batches.
How much does shipping cost?
Our sculptures will be shipped using DHL Air Express directly from the production workshop in Bali, Indonesia. They will arrive in 4-6 business days from shipment. Please see the shipping price estimate chart on our campaign page. Keep in mind that the fully packed sculptures weigh between 8-30 lbs (4-14 kg) depending on size. These shipping fees will be charged separately at checkout.
Can I track my shipment?
Yes, you will receive a DHL tracking number via email shortly after the package has been shipped out from our warehouse in Bali, Indonesia.
How is each sculpture packaged and shipped?
Each sculpture is carefully packaged in a plywood shipping crate padded with protective materials including polyethylene foam to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. We use DHL Express Air for shipping and provide tracking information for your convenience.
How long will it take for my Sculpture to arrive?
With DHL Express Air, your order will take approximately 4-5 days to arrive to you from the date of shipment. There is the possibility that your package could be held for a few days by customs when entering the US for review.
Customs, Duty, and Sales Tax
As a small company, we cannot risk getting shut down by the tax man so this is really important stuff. Our prices do not include VAT, GST or other country taxes. The price also does not include US sales tax in most states.
Sales tax will be charged for sculptures shipped to the state of Utah and your tax will be assessed after the campaign when your final shipping information is confirmed. This does not apply to all states.
Our terms of sale for orders are FOB destination. This means that you pay all duties or taxes in your country if applicable. As we are shipping these products all over the world, it is impossible for us to build in the various duties, VAT and GST tax for each location through Kickstarter.
We will be shipping our sculptures with DHL using HS Code 9703 | Harmonized System Code of original sculptures and statuary, in any material.
If you would like to estimate your duties, you can use this online tool (remember to convert the U.S. dollars to your local currency):simplyduty.com/import-calculator/
For international customers who are required to pay customs, you will receive an email from your local customs authorities asking for payment to have your order processed through customs. Unfortunately, there is no legal way around customs (including marking an order as a gift, which we cannot do). Once you make that payment to the customs broker your order will be processed for final delivery.
If you have any questions, please contact us at hello@sculptedpeaks.com.
What if my sculpture arrives damaged or broken?
If your sculpture arrives damaged or broken, please take photos immediately and send an email to our customer support team so we can assist you in solving this issue.
Do you offer insurance?
Yes, insurance is available with DHL Air Express that covers the cost of the product plus shipping, so if you packaged is lost or damaged in transit, we will be able to offer you a full refund or produce and send another sculpture.
What countries do you ship to?
We’re shipping with DHL Air Express, so we can ship almost anywhere. However, be aware that some countries may have longer delivery times and potentially longer customs clearance times.
Please see this chart of countries we ship to for pricing information for the most common destinations.
If I order more than one sculpture, will I save money on shipping?
It depends on whether you want them shipped together in one wooden box or individually packaged. The shipping cost with DHL is primarily based on weight. While adding multiple sculptures will increase the weight, combining them in one box will save on shipping because there will be less box weight. Email us at hello@sculptedpeaks.com and we can help out.
If I order multiple sculptures from you, can I ship them to different locations, or do they all need to go to the same place?
Great question! Let’s say you have 3 kids living in different states, and you want to gift each of them a sculpture. We can help with that. Because the sculptures are designed to be individually packaged and shipped, we can handle sending each one to different addresses. Just send us an email after you back our campaign to let us know, and we'll make a note to sort out the shipping addresses when the time comes for your sculptures' production batch.
General Questions
What is the return policy?
We accept returns and exchanges within a set period after delivery, provided the piece is in its original condition. Please refer to our official return policy or contact our customer service for more details.
How do I care for my sculpture?
Despite the durability of andesite stone, we recommend avoiding abrasive cleaners. Simply dust off the sculpture with a soft cloth when needed. Ensure the sculpture is placed in a location where it is unlikely to be knocked over or damaged.
Will my sculpture look exactly like the one in the picture?
On the product page you will see information about whether the piece you are looking at is currently available or if it will be made-to-order based on the image. As each piece is hand carved one-by-one, there will be slight differences for any made-to-order shipments as no two are the same.
Are the sculptures made to order, or are they ready to ship?
On our website you will find sculptures that are "Ready to Ship" meaning that when you order, the item you see in the photo will be shipped out to you within 1-2 business days.
Many of our pieces are "Carved on Demand" meaning that the sculpture will be carved just for you and will ship out within 1-2 weeks from your date of purchase. You will find additional details on each individual product page.
For specific availability and production times, please contact our customer service.
How are the sculptures made?
Each sculpture is hand carved from a solid piece of stone using tools such as grinders, chisels, and diamond burrs. Using traditional carving techniques honed over generations, the artisans hand-carve each piece, making each one a unique expression of their craft.
What materials are used in making the sculptures?
The sculptures are crafted from solid andesite stone, known for its durability and distinct hues including light gray, dark gray, beige, and green. Each piece is mounted on a solid wood stand, secured with brass pegs encased in wood, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
